Chief Minister Kamal Nath gave an indication to this effect on Friday while reviewing Project Gaushala at a meeting where a presentation was made on different kinds of cess either being imposed or considered by governments of Punjab, Rajasthan, UP and Haryana.
The rules to run and manage the 'govansh ashray sthals' (cattle shelters) at the district-level were cleared Tuesday at the very first cabinet meeting after the Lok Sabha elections chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan made the announcement in Khajuraho where a function to give awards to gaushalas was organised. The announcement comes days before the model code of conduct kicks in the poll-bound state.
Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Gau Samvardhan Board (cow protection board) Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri also thanked CM Shivraj SIngh Chouhan for increasing the grant for cow shelters to Rs 17 per animal against the earlier Rs 1.50.
The contest, Singh claimed, was receiving good response specially from the youth at a time when the issue of cow protection and campaign against cow slaughter had turned into a political issue in the country.
