During his medical examination, the accused had handed over a folded paper to his lawyer, Aljo K Joseph, which was noticed by the ED officials. After the perusal of the paper, it was revealed that it pertained to a set of follow-up questions on "Mrs Gandhi", the ED said.
Amit Shah tweeted: “Trails of the AgustaWestland Case. the SOS of Christian Michel. Does anyone know why Christian Michel passed on the details of questioning on Mrs Gandhi to his lawyer? Did he want them to be passed on to Mrs. Gandhi herself? Why?”
Reacting to the ED’s submissions, the Congress said the BJP was “putting pressure” on the ED. “(The BJP has) lost elections in 4-5 states. The country has seen the real face of the chowkidaar... elections are nearing. They don’t have any issues now."
An accused in the alleged Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland scam, Michel was extradited from the UAE recently and is currently in the ED’s custody. The agency sought his custody for eight more days on Saturday, and the judge granted a week.
"BJP scriptwriters are working overtime. There is pressure on Michel to name a particular family. Why is the chowkidar trying to pressure the government agencies to name a family?" Congress leader Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh said.
