"This expansion will change the face of western Vidarbha, as it will facilitate industrial development", Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, adding that night landing can take place at the airport after expansion.
"Micro-irrigation facilities have increased three times in the state," Fadnavis said at the event which was also attended by Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Fiji Agriculture Minister Mahendra Reddy and others.
Notably, Fadnavis Monday skipped the annual puja at the Lord Vitthal Temple in Pandharpur town due to protest threats by the Maratha community members over their various demands, including reservation in government jobs and education.
Last month, Fadnavis had criticized Bandekar for releasing purported audio clip of him during the Palghar Lok Sabha bypoll. In the tape, Fadnavis had reportedly urged the party workers to ‘use all means’ to win the poll.
Before going abroad, the Chief Minister had appointed candidates to key government-run corporations. Some more appointments in the corporations, which are pending, would be completed in the next one week, the Finance Minister said.
In Maharashtra, the state government has fixed a minimum Rs 27 per litre of milk. However, dairy farmers often complain of rampant exploitation by dairies, which refuse to pay more than Rs 17 to 20 per litre.
The venom centre will study 52 different species of snakes, their diet and geographical factors that cause difference in their venom. Haffkine Pharma is the only organisation in the public sector that produces anti-snake venom.
