The senior students were on hunger strike for 13 days, demanding accommodation in the newly-built 11-storey hostel where freshers were given berths. College authorities had Monday agreed to the demands.
Appointment of Hostel Superintendent, warden of the new hostel will be done appropriately in the near future. Repair work in all the hostels will be undertaken on an urgent basis," reads a letter issued from the principal of Medical College.
The students of second, third and fourth year were on hunger strike outside the principal's chamber to press for their demand for accommodation in a new hostel which is allotted only for first year students.
After the deaths, the govt suspended three junior doctors and a nurse and transferred the head of the nursing department, the sister-in-charge of the sick newborn care unit and the paediatric department head until the inquiry was over.
