The Jammu and Kashmir state board of school education conducts its academic session from December to November, allowing for a long winter break. However, in 2014, the deluge in Srinagar and some parts of South Kashmir led to a delay in the school academic session.
A report by security agencies has spotlighted the geographical spread of the militancy that was quelled in 2010, but which surged after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani on July 8, 2016.
Speaking to The Indian Express, IG (Kashmir Zone) Muneer Khan described the killing of Yatoo as a “very big success”. “He was one of the top commanders active here. It was a difficult operation in a place surrounded by orchards and nullahs, but we were successful,” said Khan.
