Govt to industry body: Reconsider strike against gold hallmarking

The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) has called a nationwide ‘token strike’ on August 23, against the government’s arbitrary implementation of mandatory hallmarking of gold jewellery with hallmark unique identification number.

"To protest the arbitrary implementation of hallmarking process by the BIS, jewellers across India will join a one day symbolic strike on August 23," a statement released by National Task Force on Hallmarking said.
