Watch out today: The sum of UP's four parts

Earlier, there had been a demand to carve out separate states from UP, especially Purvanchal and Bundelkhand regions. The last major initiative in this regard was in 2011 under the BSP government, when the Assembly passed a proposal to divide the state into four parts.

Earlier in the day, Rahul held a 'padyatra' in the drought-hit region. Drought conditions and unseasonable rains have destroyed winter crops in the area. In the past few years, several farmers have committed suicide due to poor crop production in Bundelkhand.
