BMC BUDGET 2020-21: Falling revenue, massive squeeze - Most depts to face cuts in capital expenditure

In review meetings held in the last couple of weeks for setting the budget estimate for the next financial year, officials from the chief accountant (CA) department have cautioned other departments on allocations for capital expenditure.

Civic chief Ajoy Mehta introduced a new skill development training scheme for women, with an aim to train at least 1,000 women from 100 self help groups. Besides the training and machinery, the women would be provided loan from a financial institution and assistance for marketing.

These projects will be undertaken in BMC schools currently closed due to decreasing or zero student strength. Besides, the civic body has allocated Rs 25 crore to start 24 new civic schools that will follow international schools’ curriculum.
