Khotkar, a Shiv Sena minister and local rival of the sitting Jalna MP Raosaheb Danve, had been demanding that he be allowed to fight from the seat on a Sena ticket or be allowed to engage in a "friendly" fight with Danve.
Shiv Sena's mouthpiece recalled that Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil was with the Sena and how he and his father had got ministerial berths in state and central governments respectively. But he changed party after the Sena went out of power.

The Shiv Sena, which has been insisting that it is the “big brother” and shall remain so in the state, has reportedly agreed to contest 23 Lok Sabha seats, while the BJP will get to contest 25. Both parties have agreed to a 50-50 formula for the Assembly elections with each of them contesting 144 seats, sources said.
