The flooding hit over 1.5 crore people in Bihar, UP and Assam last month and caused massive damage to wildlife and property. While the Assam administration reported improvement in the situation, the weatherman predicted heavy rain in some parts of the state.
In the state Legislative Council too, Congress and RJD members registered strong protests over "inadequate" flood relief arrangements and also over 'Srijan scam' at Bhagalpur forcing Deputy Chairman Harun Rashid to adjourn the House till 2:30 PM.
"Today while evacuating a pregnant woman with her guardian by NDRF team from her far-flung flood affected village of Patjilwa under Block Chiraiya in East Champaran district, she delivered a boy on our boat, a NDRF release said.
Araria district accounted for 57 deaths alone, followed by Sitamarhi (31), West Champaran (29), Katihar (23), East Champaran (19) while 13 each have died in Madhubani, Supaul and Madhepura, a Disaster Management Department release said.
Atleast two million people have been affected by the floods in Bihar. Kishanganj, Araria, Purnea and Katihar districts are among those which are worst affected. PM Modi has assured the people that all help will be given to the state. CM Nitish Kumar has also asked the assistance of Army and the Indian Air Force in the search and rescue operations.
