The Bhim Army is scheduled to hold a Hunkar Rally at Jantar Mantar Friday to press for its demands, including the rollback of 10 per cent quota in government jobs for the economically weak among the general category.
National President of the Bhim Army Vinay Ratan Singh said that Priyanka’s visit came as a complete surprise. “There was no prior communication about her visit. She came and expressed support to us. We are busy ensuring that our rally to Delhi is successful,” he told The Indian Express.
Lawyer Nitin Satpute, representing Pol, told the vacation bench of Justice C V Bhadang on Monday that the police had neither allowed nor rejected their plea seeking permission to hold a public meeting in Pune on December 30 and 31.
The police's response came when the high court was hearing a petition moved by the outfit seeking permission to conduct a public meeting in Pune on Sunday. The court has deferred the hearing for January 4.
