Ballabhgarh lynching case: On June 22, Junaid Khan was stabbed to death while his brothers, Hashim and Sakir, were injured on board a Mathura-bound train by a mob which allegedly hurled communal slurs against them. The boys were on their way back home to Ballabhgarh after doing Eid shopping in Delhi's Sadar Bazaar.
“Everything has changed. Ramzan used to be a joyous occasion but now everyone is worried. I cannot risk offering namaz at the mosque for an hour and-a-half. They burnt it down and hurt us once; how do we know it won’t happen again?” he says.
The Muslim community in the riot-affected village said they had returned to the village only after receiving assurance that they would be allowed to rebuild a part of the mosque before the beginning of Ramzan on June 18.
