Eight samples from nearly 5,000 dead poultry birds from the four-layer poultry units in Navapur were sent to the National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases for avian influenza test. All the samples tested positive.

On Tuesday, the death of 214 poultry birds was reported in the state. Of these, 200 deaths were reported from Yavatmal, 11 from Amravati and three from Akola. Four crows have also died in Akola, bringing the total toll to 218.

As per the notification of the ban, living and dead birds, any form of poultry including the unprocessed meat would not be allowed to enter the state till January 15.
