A day after Punjab IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu was assaulted by some stranded pilgrims in Uttarakhand,his colleagues back home demanded a probe into the incident alleging that the attack seemed premeditated and conspiratorial.
Latur (Maharashtra), Feb 24 (ANI): In a controversial incident, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Yusuf Sheikh was forced to chant 'Jai Bhawani' by local goons. The cop was also paraded and assaulted. The group then went away but came back the next morning and started shouting slogans against the head constable and also allegedly assaulted Awaskar when he visited the spot again. Sheikh was allegedly paraded along with saffron flags. Sheikh said a group of men entered the police station and started beating him and others with wooden sticks. He added that they also abused him and asked him to chant 'Jai Bhavani' in order to show them respect.
Harda (MP): A Muslim couple was assaulted in a train by members of the Gauraksha Samiti over suspicion of carrying beef in their bags. The victim Mohammed Hussain said when he objected to their luggage being searched, the members misbehaved with his wife and children. He added that they beat him up and manhandled his family members. He said the accused told him that they got information that he was carrying beef in bags.
