The Delhi government counsel appearing for the Department of Forest said there are some cases wherein petitioners have interim orders protecting them from removal of encroachment. She added that the department shall include the list of these cases as well in the affidavit.

According to a senior forest department official, the department intends to move between 300 and 400 deer to the wildlife sanctuary to promote ecotourism and curb the possibility of inbreeding depression at the Deer Park.

L-G VK Saxena has also directed officials to make arrangements for a cafeteria and public toilets for visitors with eco-friendly material. The communication from the L-G’s office said he has directed officials to deploy e-vehicles or e-feeder buses for visitors to the lake.

Data for the study, which began in June 2021, was collected using camera traps which provided 111 images of leopards -- of these, eight unique individuals were found in the sanctuary, which spans 32.71 sq km.
