Satish Dagar’s exit comes after HC gave CBI 4 months to wrap up probe. Dagar, who joined the agency in 1986, serves as Superintendent of Police in CBI’s anti-corruption unit III. He had also investigated the charges against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
The affidavit, filed through special public prosecutor Rajdipa Behura, was in reply to a public interest litigation (PIL) by Sarthak Chaturvedi, an advocate, who has sought a probe by a special investigation team into alleged phone tapping of NSA Doval.
The CBI chief’s post has been lying vacant since January 10 after the unceremonious exit of Alok Verma, who had been engaged in a bitter fight with Gujarat-cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana over corruption charges.
The ousted CBI chief, in his letter to DoPT, said "Natural justice was scuttled and the entire process was turned upside down in ensuring that the undersigned is removed from the post of the Director CBI."
