Afzal Ansari biography
Afzal Ansari is a political leader from Uttar Pradesh and a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat. He was born on August 14, 1953, in Yusufpur, Uttar Pradesh, to his parents, Subhanullah Ansari and Begum Rabia. He completed his post-graduation from the University of Gorakhpur.
His political journey began with the Communist Party of India before transitioning to the SP in 1996 and later joining the BSP in 2009. He left BSP to form his own party, Quami Ekta Dal, which he later merged with BSP in 2019. He has served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ghazipur constituency, winning elections in 2004 and 2019. His significant assets and political influence have made him a notable figure in Uttar Pradesh politics.
He was disqualified from his position as a Member of the Parliament on May 1, 2023, after being sentenced to four years in prison. The Supreme Court of India revoked the suspension on December 15, 2023.
