Uttar Pradesh Police Recovered E-Waste Worth Rs 15 Lakh

 

The Uttar Pradesh Police in a joint operation with the state pollution control department recovered 1000 tons e-waste worth about Rs 15 lakh, under the directions of National Green Tribunal. Two trucks carrying 400 quintals of e-waste were seized while 600 quintals of garbage was recovered from three godowns. A search operation is underway to nab the accused.

Electronic waste also known as e-waste is basically discarded electrical or electronic devices. Used electronics which are recycled for reuse, resale, salvage, recycling or disposal are also considered e-waste. in recent incidents it has been seen that informal processing of e-waste in India is proving harmfull fot the environment and humans. Its adverse effects on human health and environmental pollution have significantly been seen in the recent years.

Electronic scrap components, like CPUs, contain harmful components such as lead, cadmium, beryllium, orbrominated flame retardants.
