Goa CM Manohar Parrikar Wins Crucial Floor Test With 22 Votes In 40-Member Assembly

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar proved his majority on the floor of the house via floor trust winning 22 votes in the 40-member Goa Assembly. Parrikar, who was sworn-in as chief minister along with nine other MLAs claimed the support of 22 MLAs. NCP’s Churchill Alemao voted in favour of the BJP government along with 13 from BJP, three from MGP, three from Goa Forward and two Independents. Meanwhile, Congress managed the support of only 16 MLAs and its MLA Vishwajit Rane abstained from voting. Reacting to the trust vote, Goa CM Parrikar said that they have proven the majority before the people of India. The floor test was conducted after the Supreme Court who was hearing a petition against the BJP being invited to form government in Goa, asked Parrikar to prove his majority in the assembly on March 16.
