Internal crisis in the Samajwadi Party refuses to die down. Today, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav met Governor Ram Naik, fueling speculation that he may resign from the top post amidst widening rift with his uncle Shivpal Singh. According to reports, the chief minister briefed the governor on the prevailing political situation in the state. The meeting comes a day after Samajwadi Party chief and Akhilesh’s father Mulayam Singh Yadav said in a press conference that there was no rift within the family and the party. Meanwhile, Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal Yadav vacated his official residence in Lucknow, just days after he was sacked as minister. In an indication that he does not want to be taken back in the state government, Shivpal’s staff began removing his ministerial name plate from his official residence.
