Shahnawaz Hussain On Bihar Elections, Nitish Kumar and PM Modi

A member of the BJP Central Election Committee, Shahnawaz Hussain says victory in the Bihar polls is very important for Modi and the party, claims a change in Nitish as back as 2009, admits that talk of love jihad hurts and argues that meat bans are linked to respecting people’s sentiments. Why Shahnawaz Hussain: A prominent BJP leader, Shahnawaz Hussain is a key player in the Bihar elections. Though he was one of the shock losers of the BJP in the 2014 general elections, Shahnawaz has an influential support base in  north-eastern Bihar where Muslims form a sizeable proportion of the population and are a deciding factor in a number of constituencies. With the BJP emphasising on development over caste, Shahnawaz’s role in attracting minority votes becomes significant.
