Mirzya is inspired by the famous folklore of Mirzya Sahiba. It has its likeness in great love stories and great romantic tragedies lilke Romeo Juliet, Heer Ranjha, Laila, Majnu…Mirzya Sahiban is one in the line. In my film, we play out the folklore, as such, so there’s one part of the story and then the folklore in a way kind of resonates and echoes and lands on today’s time… you know the essence of it. And mostly it plays out, I would say like a good 70 per cent of it plays out now in contemporary Rajasthan ( in 2016) with contemporary actors.
Mirzya’s director Rakesh Omprakash spoke to indianexpress.com. Here is his interview.
