Tehelka founder and former-editor Tarun Tejpal is accused of sexually assaulting his junior colleague on November 7 and 8 in a lift of a five-star hotel during an event in Goa. Tejpal had stepped down as Tehelka Editor-in-Chief for six months in the wake of the sexual assault allegations against him. The woman journalist, in her complaint to managing editor Shoma Chaudhury, had claimed that Tejpal sexually assaulted her on two occasions during the ‘Think fest’ event organised by the magazine at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Bambolim. The 50-year-old journalist is currently in custody of the Goa Police.
The SC issued a notice to Goa Police on Tehelka founder Tarun Tejpal’s bail plea.
The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court had already rejected a bail petition by Tejpal, who is currently in judicial remand and lodged at Sada sub-jail.
She said unlike Mr. Tejpal, she is not a person of immense means.
I have nothing to do with the affairs or management of Tehelka, said K D Singh.
Earlier in the day,Tejpal had moved Delhi HC seeking anticipatory bail in the sexual assault case.
