In a series of tweets, the AAP MLA from Malviya Nagar raised concerns about Singh holding a press conference at her residence in order to make public his wife Lipika Mitra’s claims of alleged domestic abuse.
Giving a blow by blow account of Somnath Bharti’s alleged “torture”, Lipika said that she was contemplating of moving court against him.
On June 10, Mitra approached the Delhi Commission for Women alleging that the AAP leader had been abusing her ever since their marriage in 2010.

Among his wife’s demands were to “choose between her and my mother,” and quit AAP and politics, Bharti told reporters.
“Today we have served the notice to Bharti at his Malviya Nagar residence. We have received acknowledgment receipt. He has been asked to appear before the commission on June 26 at 3 pm,” Singh said.

The NHRC is hearing the case accusing Bharti of racial prejudice and unlawful acts against 12 African women.

“What Somnath Bharti did here is commendable but he did not get a proper hearing.”
The court had asked the prosecution agency to reply to Bharti’s plea in a month.
The AAP leader has also been asked to appear before the Commission on the next date of hearing in January.
The NHRC had held Bharti guilty of “racial prejudice and unlawful acts” during his raid in Khirki Extension.
