Unfazed by criticism, former union minister Shashi Tharoor today opposed death penalty even for terrorists saying it was an “obsolete practice” and they should instead be put behind bars for the rest of their lives without parole.
Tharoor had complained in a letter to Gandhi that his “sincere” services to the party have “neither been seen nor appreciated.”
“Why on earth would I have spoken to the media to undermine myself and my standing within the party?” Tharoor asks in the letter.
