The government on Wednesday removed the name of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, from the no-frisking list of the airports.
The ‘no-frisking’ privilege, enjoyed by SPG protectees like Vadra’s wife Priyanka Gandhi and Constitutional dignitaries, saves them from the requirement of going through security checks at airports.
If Robert Vadra is removed from the elite list, he would be subjected to frisking at all airports even if he travels with an SPG protectee.
Sources said the Home Ministry has said it does not consider the threat perception to Vadra serious enough to warrant his inclusion in the no-frisking list.
Vadra had maintained in his reply that there was no attempt on his part to hurt anybody and he was only exercising his right to freedom of expression.
