The Tamil Nadu government had on February 20 moved the apex court seeking deployment of CISF for protection of Mullaperiyar dam in Kerala.
Kerala sought that water level should be raised above 136 feet only after exhausting storage into Vaigai.
Supreme Court has allowed Tamil Nadu to raise the water level in the dam to 142 feet.
The verdict had also restrained Kerala from obstructing Tamil Nadu from raising the water level in the dam.
In May this year, the Supreme Court ruled that water up to 142 feet could be stored in the Mullaperiyar dam.

A lease for 999 years entered into by the British government with the Maharaja of Travancore in 1886 was held to be valid by the bench.
As per the proposal, the panel will ensure increasing the full reserve level to 142 feet and look into the safety aspects of the century-old structure.
The issue would be taken up on the first day of the monsoon session under assembly Rule 130.
