Pandey is not the only accused in the 2004 Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case to be rehabilitated. Over the past two years, since the investigation hit a dead end, all the accused in the case are out on bail.
Vanzara, who returned to Gujarat Friday after court modified his bail conditions in the Ishrat Jahan and the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter cases, attended the event.
“Delhi knew about the encounters which were based on the inputs provided by the Intelligence Bureau officials… still the anti-nationals of the country falsely created these cases,” said Vanzara.
Retired IPS officer DG Vanzara, on Wednesday moved an application before the investigation agency seeking its approval to advance the date of the hearing which has been adjourned till May 30 by the previous judge who recused.
“I had to tell justice Pardiwala that I am not D G Vanzara,” said K G Vanzara after the court proceedings got over.
The former Gujarat top cop alleged that the state police was targeted for “extra legal political reasons”.

Vanzara had sought bail in Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case in which his name figures as accused number-one.
The Ranip police said a case of attempt to suicide has been registered under Section 309 of the Indian Penal Code.
Incidentally,Sreekumars security was withdrawn on September 24,although he was officially informed only on September 26.
The ex-Gujarat DIG has been in jail in connection with the Ishrat Jahaan encounter case.
