SRINAGAR, APRIL 28: The J&K Police has unearthed a major sex racket in Srinagar in which the names of two top politicians, 13 police and security force officers and a ring of 43 girls have surfaced. Two persons were arrested after police discovered two porn CDs in which a 15-year-old girl had been forcibly filmed.

Director General of J-K Police Gopal Sharma said that the police are investigating the case. ‘‘Once the investigations are complete, we will take strict action,’’ he said. ‘‘We will not spare anybody.’’

According to a confidential report prepared by a sub-divisional police officer, who is investigating the case, a group of elders approached the Shaheedgunj Police station in downtown Srinagar with two porn CDs on March 14. ‘‘These CDs contained nude scenes of a minor girl from Habakadal (a neighbouring locality). The girl was summoned along with her parents for investigation,’’ the report said. ‘‘A Class 8 student, the girl had to leave her studies after she was coerced into prostitution.’’ The police immediately filed a case.

The report says that the girl made startling revelations when police questioned her, exposing a well-knit racket where 43 young girls are ‘‘blackmailed and coerced’’ to get involved in prostitution and are then regularly supplied to several J&K politicians, police and security force officers, businessmen and surrendered militants.

In fact, the report says that the minor girl provided 48 names to the police investigators, which include two former ministers and legislators belonging to J&K’s ruling coalition, three Superintendents of Police, seven deputy superintendents of police, a Deputy Inspector General of Border Security Force, 10 local businessmen and several government officials. The police report says that though ‘‘the kingpin of this prostitution racket is Sabeena,’’ a resident of downtown Srinagar, a surrendered militant coerces the girls into prostitution, films them and then blackmails them. The police, according to the report, have arrested two persons, Riyaz Langoo and Naseer, who were found responsible for filming the CDs of the minor girl.
