Srabani Nanda, 25: Srabani Nanda will be competing for one of the quickest track events at Rio 2016 Olympics. She clocked 23.07 secondsat the G Kosanov Memorial Meet in Almaty 2016 to clinch her name in the 200 metres women’s event. Since the qualifying mark was set at 23.20 seconds, she must have been elated to make it under just the qualifying record. She has been very consistent with her performances in the recent times, especially in the 200 metres as well as the 100 metres category. She will also join Dutee Chand, both from Odisha, in Rio. Her stint at the South Asian Games in 2016 was a successful one as she clinched  gold and silver medals in the 200 metres and 100 metres sprint, respectively. Her consistent effort was lauded at the Commonwealth Games meet back in 2010, when she helped her women’s team bring  bronze medal in the 4×100 metre relay event. She pulled a medal winning performance with a timing of 45.25 seconds at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on October 12, 2010. Previously, she has helped her team seal gold at the Commonwealth Youth games in Pune, held in 2008, in the 4×100 metres relay event. She also secured a bronze medal each in 100 and 200 metre sprint events of the SAF Games in Colombo in 2007.
