Sajan Prakash, 22-year old, Kerala swimmer Sajan Prakash was selected over Sandeep Sejwal inspite of fewer FINA points. A member of the Glasgow Commonwealth and Incheon Asian Games, Sajan holds a record of winning 6 gold and 3 Silver medals in the Indian National Games. Commonwealth Games quarter-finalist is working with Indian Railways and is another player who comes from a family having sports background. Prakash’s mother is a former athlete and has represented the country in several international events. Sajan won a gold medal in 1500 meter free style in the 68th India National Aquatic Championship, Kolkata 2014. His current world ranking is 119th and is the closest an Indian swimmer has got to the top 100.
His greatest strength lies in his versatility which has helped him create national records and win medals. Sajan was selected through the University rule, which allows two spinners to participate provided the they have participated in the recent World Championship.
