Name: Inderjeet Singh, 28, Inderjeet Singh is Indian athlete specializing in the shot put. He is a native of Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab and the 28-year old later moved to Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. Inderjeet is currently coached by Pritam Singh who is a younger brother of another Indian shot putter Shakti Singh.

He is an alumnus of Delhi Public School Nigahi & belonging 2006 batch, one of most prestigious school in Coal India campus. He later moved to Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh along with his family

Career highlights: Inderjeet Singh won the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in 2015. Inderjeet in 2015 won Asian Grand Prix at Bangkok, Universiade at Gwangju, South Korea , World Championships at Beijing, China. He was one India’s athletes to fail a dope test of a banned substance but tested negative in the second dope test that was conducted on June 29.

Qualification: He achieved the Olympic qualification mark with a throw of 20.65m at the 19th Federation Cup at Mangala Stadium, at Mangalore.

Record: Inderjeet Singh competed at the 2013 Summer Universiade and won silver medal with a throw of 19.70 metre which was his personal best at that time.

Event: Inderjeet Singh will represent India in Shot-put event at Rio 2016 Olympics
The shot put is a track and field event involving “throwing”/”putting” a heavy spherical object,the shot as far as possible.

Schedule: Men´s Shot Put qualifying round is scheduled to take place on 18th August
