The festive season is here and Bengal is all set for its biggest celebratory bonanza, the Durga Puja, which will commence from next week. The mega festival is celebrated for five days across the state with much grandeur and zeal.
Durga Puja heralds the victory of Goddess Durga over demon king Mahishasur. Along with the goddess her four children – Ganesh, Karthek, Saraswati and Lakshi is also worshiped during the festival.
While 'Mahalaya' is the day which marks the beginning of the festival, usually the last five days from 'Maha Shashti to Vijay Dashami' are observed in the grandest fashion. (Source: Express photo by Subham Dutta)
