CONCERNED OVER possible rebellion in the party over distribution of tickets, especially in Shimla (Urban) and districts such as Mandi and Kullu, the AICC Sunday set up a three-member committee headed by Ambika Soni to meet party leaders and resolve their grievances before the last date for withdrawal of papers. The other panel members were former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat, said AICC general secretary Sushil Kumar Shinde. Shinde said distribution of tickets had been done after considering parameters of “winnability and fair play”.

“The committee has been tasked with meeting all those who had filed their nominations or propose to do so on Monday and address their grievances. They will also be told about the factors that were taken into account for distribution of tickets. We cannot afford to have rebels in the fray,” he added. The panel members will visit the state and draw up an action plan on the issue.
