Australia will cull over 1900 kangaroos from Monday in a bid to reduce its population as they can have a devastating impact on the local environment. The announcement was made on its annual measure to control the kangaroo population. The culling of kangaroos will be done across Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

10 reserves across the territory will be closed each evening to allow the culling of up to 1,991 animals, ABC news reported. Director of Parks and Conservation with the ACT government, Daniel Iglesias said it was necessary to curb the population of eastern grey kangaroos in the ACT.

“We know for a fact that over-abundant numbers of eastern grey kangaroos can have a devastating impact on the local environment,” he said. “We know that it can lead to de-vegetation and the complete degradation of certain areas if we let it go too long. This is not about eradication, this is about sustainable numbers of eastern grey kangaroos,” Iglesias added.

India should import these Kangroos live and distribute them all around Supreme Court to remind the so called judges that their courts are nothing but Kangroo courts for the politicians and agencies. How does that sound TAK-Kur

Yes well after they finish there they can come to my farm where I have hundreds. I don't mind having 20 or 30 and I have asked the Green political party (who want to stop all culling of kangaroos) if they would like to subsidise me for having the other 4 or 500 but they never answer me.

Please write 'killed'. Why such euphemisms as culled? No room for animals since humans appropriate their space. Couldn't Australia have sterilized them earlier? Throughly inhumane action which could have been prevented by sterilization.lt;br/gt;After humans take over even more space, cutting out trees/ all other life, humans will die of a great loneliness. Why not send them to wildlife sanctuaries or zoos across the world? I'm sure there would be countries interested in having these animals there as tourist attractions... but then I guess the Australians find it easier to just kill them.
