A group of men hosted a bachelor’s party at the 9/11 memorial site Ground Zero in New York on Friday. The men also brought with them a blow up sex doll and took selfies with it.

The group, who claimed to be from London, was eventually asked to leave the place by a police officer, reported news outlet The Telegraph.

As people in the US geared up to mark the 15-year anniversary of the dreadful attacks, many condemned the act, saying it was “disgusting” and “disgraceful”. The attack had left 2996 people dead.

The area where the party was taking place and the selfies were being taken was only a few feet away from the parapet around the reflecting pool. The parapet has engraved in bronze the names of all those who died in the attacks.

The men reportedly work at a bank in New York. The Telegraph reported the men saying that “they were just enjoying a bachelor party”.

A spokesman for the 9/11 memorial, Michael Frazier said, as quoted by The Telegraph, “At any time, this would be enraging and offensive. We are days away from commemorating the 15th anniversary of 9/11 – this is disgusting. I have never seen anything like this or expect to see anything like this – not even remotely close.”
