Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has termed the Taliban attack in Peshawar school as a ‘national tragedy’

The prime minister has left for Peshawar to personally monitor the operation.

At least 84 students were among more than 100 people killed when heavily-armed Taliban militants stormed an army-run school in Pakistan’s volatile Peshawar city Tuesday morning.

A police official said that the school has been cordoned off, with a rescue operation in progress. About 500 students and teachers were believed to be inside at the time of attack.
