You’ve seen Indian girls dancing to Sia’s ‘Cheap Thrills’ and blow your mind but you have to see what these two girls have created. Running their YouTube channel by the name of Veena Thambaps, Canada-based girls Aranya and Athithya have made a beautiful cover of ‘Cheap Thrills’ on Veena and it has gone viral for all the right reasons.
Aranya and Athiya started learning the instrument at the age of 5 and 7 respectively and then there was no looking back. They were heavily inspired by their mother, who is a music teacher herself. They’ve been doing covers of songs on the Veena for quite some time now and have garnered a following on social media. “It’s a very rewarding and grateful feeling to know that people truly enjoy our music,” they told TamilCulture.
‘Cheap Thrills’ has been dominating all the clubs, pubs, and car’s music systems being a peppy and catchy number as it is. No wonder the girls got inspired to play it on veena! Also, classical renditions are becoming more and more popular these days. Remember the Tabla cover of Game of Thrones’ theme song and carnatic cover of Adele’s Hello?
