The nine nights of Navratri fill devotees with devotion and reverence. Celebrated to honour Goddess Durga, the core reason behind the festival is the victory of good over evil. To add zest and zeal to the festivities, people plan Garba and Dandiya dance parties. Joining the troupe, the US Consulate in Mumbai held a Dandiya dance off between its American and Indian staff this year.

Capturing each moment, right from the rehearsals to the shopping spree for colourful lehengas to bring the aura of the festival, the US Consulate shared a lot of pictures on its Facebook page. “Determined to ace the Dandiya dance off, our American officers are turning to Bollywood for inspiration,” they wrote.

And, here’s how a clip from when the American staff headed out for shopping. “To gear up for the #DandiyaDanceOff on Monday, Team USA went on the prowl for the perfect Dandiya outfit. What do you think of their costume selection? Will it help them beat Team India?” the video was captioned.
