Love, as many would agree, is beautiful and passionate. But, at times, it is unreasonable and defies logic. Once you fall in love, there are very few explanations you can offer to defend the things you do. It makes you selfish and selfless — all at the same time. Capturing that irrational, paradoxical and achingly beautiful aspect of love, Aryana Rose recited her poem I Can Die Now. She, then 45, fell in love with a man who was 29 years old. They met at a French village and cupid struck. Despite the huge age difference, she gave in as she could no longer resist her feelings.
What followed was a fairy-tale romance as the man, a painter and a sculptor, taught her the names and properties of trees and bees. “Everything about him was exceptional,” she said. And yet she left him – only to call him four years later. And the way she way she met him again will astound you. The poem has been widely shared, and in all probability, listening to it will break your heart.
