An elderly couple was allegedly thrashed by a youth in their shop at sector 18 in the city, police said on Friday.

The accused identified as Rajeev (21) allegedly entered the mobile shop run by Joginderpal Soni (58) and his wife Santhosh Kumari (56), and beat them up on Wednesday night, police said.

The police said that the accused, reportedly under the influence of liquor, tried to misbehave with the woman and when she resisted him, the accused slapped her, breaking her teeth. When the woman’s husband intervened, he was also beaten up by Rajeev.

The accused, who is a driver by profession, was arrested, based on a complaint from the victim. The victim maintained that they had no personal enmity with the youth, who lives in their neighborhood.

The couple was medically examined following which a case was registered against the youth, police said.

The entire sequence of events was recorded in the CCTV installed in the mobile shop.

Kanu: All Stereotyping is bad, but taking offence to it is not going to solve the real problem. Mr. Kejriwal took offence to Mr. Rijiju's comment, but that has not helped improve the discipline situation in Delhi / Delhi-NCR. This specific case seems to having a context from a previous simmering dispute ...

What about those cases which are not in light. There are many anti social elements who torture and threat elders. Strict law should be made parallel to a rape or murder. I request the youth to respect your parent, teacher, if this is done automatically you become a good human and respect society. #dedicated to youth

Though I don't agree with @Arc above, I wish to say to @mithranadir, You must be one of those people who have a misguided notion of the Sangh.

That part of the country really is utterly hopeless. No doubt bad things happen down South as well, but something is very wrong with the Delhi NCR, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Bengal belt.
