It doesn’t matter if you’re a Punjabi or not, people around the world can’t stop tapping their feet to Bhangra music. The peppy beats of dhol and sounds of nagara are a full proof formula that has mesmerised people all across the world. But have you ever imagined dancers could do Bhangra to the music played live by an orchestra? Sounds baffling, right? But it really happened and it was equally entertaining.
Canada’s Maritime Bhangra Group that earlier have made snow shoveling cool and fused Bhangra to many international hits are back and how! Together with the musicians of Symphony Nova Scotia, they danced to the tunes of ‘Janjhan’ by Gurpreet Maan played live on cello, violin, and other instruments far away from the desi dhols. But there was no dearth of enthusiasm among the audience who later joined the trio to shake a leg and do some simple Bhangra moves.
From little children to adults, see how beautifully the two form of music and dance was presented together to entertain people.
