For someone who shifted from Mumbai to Pune— its much quieter and comparatively smaller neighbour — the difference felt is pretty obvious.
Most of us love moving to a new city, but there’s certainly a lot that we end up losing our cool over. We definitely enjoy the new life, but nevertheless, nothing can stop us from missing home.
Just like Mandar Bhide does. Bhide is a comedian originally from Mumbai who recently shifted to Pune. And he has made some hilarious observations about the city. For instance, the numerous Symbiosis that are mushrooming after every two turns in the city. So much so, he thinks there are more Symbiosis colleges in the city than there are vada pav thelas in Mumbai!
He points out such things about Pune, that most of know but never registered in our minds enough to care so much about. Just like many of us away from home, Bhide misses Mumbai too. And on weekends, his home-sickness makes him feel so “Lonavla” — Bhide’s hilarious wordplay on ‘lonely’.
He also picks on the localites usage of short forms for almost every word. For instance, Bhide says sev batata dahi puri is rechristened SBDP in Pune! If that’s not enough, the comedian makes it clear how he’d rather deal with auto drivers from Bihar than from Maharashtra because they start with “return ka bhaada lagega”!
