Good Morning Britain viewers were shocked at Grammy Award-winning singer Mariah Carey’s response to the tragic shooting in Las Vegas when hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid asked her about it. The 47-year-old singer was on a live feed from her Beverly Hills was seen stretched out across a chaise lounge in a red gown when the British TV presenters asked her about the attack near the Mandalay Bay Resort and Hotel in Las Vegas.

Apparently, Carey was supposed to be doing a promotional interview for her upcoming Christmas shows in London and Paris when Morgan posed the question related to the Las Vegas attack.

A shocked Carey instinctively expressed her condolences, saying, “It’s terrible. People are just going out to listen to music because that’s what they want to do,” Carey said. She added, “They’re out for the night, and something shocking happens. Nobody could have expected it, and it’s just wrong. I really don’t know what to say.”

However, Twitter didn’t take kindly to host Morgan suddenly breaking the news to the singer on-air and asking for her reactions. Though many vented out on Twitter questioning whether it was appropriate for the host to ask such questions without the singer’s knowledge, as she was visibly unprepared, a few others raised objection to Carey’s posture on air as she lay glamorously across her chair, which has been called out as insensitive.

Following the interview, Carey expressed her condolences on Twitter.

On the other hand, host Morgan, defended his line of inquiry, tweeting that the singer and her team were informed of the events before the interview.

The Las Vegas mass shooting on Sunday that left 58 people dead and more than 500, has left everyone reeling from shock and grief. People who went out to attend a music concert at the Route 91 Harvest Festival wouldn’t have expected something that was so much life-threatening.
