The jokes don't stop! The jokes don’t stop!

Engineers, unfortunately, are probably one of the most mocked at professionals in this world. Their curriculum is known to be one of the toughest, their schedules during college, hectic, and assignments, never-ending. But they are generalised to have the best hostel life a student can live (not that others don’t) and, of course, eventually go on to pursue other careers in management and writing. But that’s just too much generalisation, isn’t it?

Thanks to the likes of Chetan Bhagat, their books, and movies like 3 Idiots and Pyar Ka Punchnama that only strengthens the belief in all these stereotypes!

Today is Engineer’s Day in India and it’s not celebrated because people want to crack jokes. The day is celebrated as a tribute to Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the greatest engineers this country had, on his birthday. The much decorated Visvesvaraya is known for his work in harnessing water resources, he passed away in 1962. September 15 is also celebrated to remember the works of notable engineers across the world, who have contributed to the society, though several countries celebrate it on different days, depending on its relevance.

But despite such sombre beginnings, Twitterati have their own way of celebrating the day. It’s sad but true – not many are talking about Visvesvaraya’s contributions and legacy, and instead are busy coming up with the best engineer jokes they possibly can.

Oh well, laughter is the best medicine, after all. So, with that ideology in mind, we browsed Twitter to pick out some of the best jokes doing the rounds:

Talking about jokes and memes, you don’t want to miss these 15 jokes that engineers have had to deal with.
