Maharashta Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray laid down conditions for the makers of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ before finally calling off the protest his party has been staging against it for weeks now. He said the producers of all the films with Pakistani actors in it will have to give Rs 5 crore to the Army relief fund and will also have to give in writing that they’ll not cast any Pakistani artists in the future.

People on social media are furious at what they are calling ‘settlement’ and can’t fathom Thackeray’s move. Many have even called it ‘extortion’. But in a series of powerful tweets that have gone viral on social media, former Air Vice Marshal Manmohan Bahadur slammed Thackeray’s decision. “I served four decades in uniform- and never did I live on extorted money. What’s this happening in my country???? Indian Armed Forces cannot, and SHUD NOT, become crutches 4pol ambitions. Unfortunately, this is the trend seen in recent past,” he wrote.

A user questioned him what his reaction would be if the government imposed Army cess. Here’s what he said.

People lauded him for his statements. What do you have to say?

If someone's business profit is on the cost of national sentiments , then he must pay some cost to the nation. Or better stop asking for generous donations in times of war or calamity

Salute to the Air Vice Marshall.Armed Forces Officers have respect for their uniforms. They are the only insutions left who have self respect for themselves, for the country and countrymen. They lay down their lives selflessly, that is the mark of their valour. But the political cl play with their dead bodies as during Vajpayee's term they pla with the coffins meant for the mart soldiers on the battlefield. But some how the country has forgotten that incident. We are thankful to the Vice Air Marshall for reminding the country they won't touch the extorted money of the politicians.Jai Jawans.Jai Hind!

I do not agree with this Ex-Air Marshall. These producers will make a lot of money by promoting Porkistan I artists. They have acted against national sentiments. Their recent statements prove that they wanted us to promote these artists. The general public was against promotion of these artists. If the producers have done that crime, they should pay the fine. This fine is a temporary measure. The fine is collected for a noble cause. The Air Marshall SHUD NOT and will not get a paisa out of it. He should not be living off this money. It is for personnel who have financial and other hardship. For them any money is welcome. Keep in mind that this fine is a temporary arrangement and the film industry will not employ Porkistan artists in the future.

Calling for no kind of relation with a terror breeding country is welcome, but, asking to pay a fine is an emotional blackmail. Very similar to non state actors doing moral policing. what next, if you engage non Marathi artists, pay a surcharge?.

Army should not accept this fund. They don't need hooligans in the country to extort money for them. All country men love them and if required even if all contribute even a small amount it will be much more than this. Army doesn't need funds

i think this is a best deal.it ensures that bollywood would not cast pak artist in near future which would not have been possible without this truce.it is only MNS which has opposed pak artist working in indian cinema, the others were not only silentlt;br/gt;but also made pre release trailer and music of adhm a big hit(4crore hit on youtube).
