On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 will hold no value with effect from midnight. The country, at this point, is in somewhat of a panic mode because people are still trying to wrap their heads around what has happened. There is obviously a process in place for everyone to get their existing cash changed to new currency notes that’ll be available November 11 onwards, but these two days are proving to be very confusing and taxing. Many don’t have cash at-hand, now that Rs 500 and Rs 100 are good as ‘toilet paper’ and ATMs and banks are not functioning.

Amid this chaos, Delhi-resident Viplav Arora was travelling in an Ola cab without cash (well, he only had Rs 500 notes which amounts to no money!). Thankfully, he had money in Ola Money so he decided to pay using that. However, when his ride ended, he fell short of a little amount in his Ola account and had absolutely no other option to pay. The driver, Vipin Kumar, won his heart with his reply when he got to know he didn’t have cash.

“Sir baaki k paise rehne dijiye , do paise kam kama lenge ,thodi si takleef hogi or vo to sab ko ho rhi hai, ab sarkaar ke faisley ka samaan krte hue , desh ki tarakki me ye hamara yogdaan hi samjh lenge. Aap befikr hokar apni train lijiye. (Sir, it’s okay, let it be. Even if I get a little less money, it’ll slightly difficult to manage but that’s the case with everyone. I’ll consider this as my contribution to the the country’s growth. You please go ahead without any worries),” he said.

Arora shared the story on Olacabs’ Facebook page from where it went viral. In fact, Ola acknowledged the good deed of Kumar and decided to compensate for his loss. “We’re so happy to hear this Viplav. We’re proud to have a driver-partner like Vipin Kumar with us! More power to him,” wrote Ola adding that they’ll adjust the amount for him.

#OLA
booked an ola from home to railway station today. Unfortunately I had all 500 notes in my wallet at that time and I was totally aware of scrapping of Rs. 500 & Rs. 1000 currency, so decided to pay via Ola money.
But somehow my bill for ride was little over the amount I had in ola money and rest of amount I was supposed to pay to driver in cash.
No ATM’s were working and for sure nobody would give you change against 500 note.
Reply of driver at that time not only earns respect for himself but also I am writing this post because of that.

Salute to that driver #vipinkumar and he proved the PM Modi quote in which he said – Common man of India always ready to face hardship in country’s interest.
