Ashwin Ramachandran's response is epic! Ashwin Ramachandran’s response is epic!

The last time a Pakistani journalist Omar R Quraishi mocked India’s performance at the Rio Olympics, we all know how that happened. Indian Twitterati trolled him left, right and centre. “Finally one of the 119 competitors that India sent to Rio has won a medal – a bronze – now see how they portray it as if they won 20 golds,” he had tweeted, to which he even got a fitting response from veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan.

Well, it seems that wasn’t the end of taking potshots. Probably inspired by Quraishi, another Pakistani Twitter user @mufc_affanf9 recently mocked India’s performance at Rio Paralympics, saying it has only won four medals – “1.2 billion population and just 4 medals. LOL,” said the Twitter user, in response to cricketer Ashwin Ramachandran’s tweet wishing Deepa Malik, who won a silver medal in Short Put.

But Ramachandran didn’t keep mum. He gave a fitting and sarcastic response to the guy. “(R)anked as high as no 6 in the population chart, I wish you to go for the second medal. All the best brothers and sisters,” replied the cricketer, referring to Pakistan’s first medal, a bronze, won by long jumper Haider Ali.

His response was lauded by many, but it also set off a Twitter war between the Twitter users of both countries, initiating a war of tweets on the merits and demerits of the two nations.
