US President Barack Obama turns 55 today and is soon going to leave the post after completing two terms of his presidency. The day he leaves the oval office, it might go down in history as the day that collectively made many people cry. Of course, there will be some happy faces too. But during eight years of his regime, he has managed to make people laugh and laugh very hard. He comes across as a president who has a great sense of humour and knows exactly when and how to use it.
Remember his mic drop moment at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner where he delivered hilarious one-liners and took a dig at republican nominee Donald Trump? Or when he gate-crashed a wedding and gave the bride a memory of a lifetime? Or when he slow-jammed the news with Jimmy Fallon on his show? And the list goes on. These are the times when he made people believe he really is the coolest president a country could have. He is someone they can relate to, he’s not always all-serious and all-business. He knows how to have fun and cultivated a public image of a president who knows how to balance between his personal and professional and life and when to inter-mingle the two.
In the photos captured by White House official photographer Pete Souza, we get a glimpse of the real Barack Obama who loves to surprise his staff with birthday cakes, who cuddles with infants and who doesn’t mind occasional public display of affection towards his wife who has been standing tall with him through thick and thin.
Knowing what a cool president he has proven himself to be. Here’s a list of five videos that reflect a funny side of Barack Obama.
