All of us have our own bucket list of things we want to do. While most of us are waiting to tick off travel, or bungee-jumping or eating the weirdest cuisine, in Missouri, United States, a 102-year-old woman had some other plans. Nothing much, just that she wanted to land herself in the back of a police car. Yes, Edie Simms wanted to check off ‘getting arrested by the police’ from her “things to do” list, and she did!
Simms is grateful to St Louis, Missouri police officers who decided to take her on a ride in their squad car. If you are wondering what the ‘young lady’ did do to get arrested, she actually did nothing to break the law.
According to ABC News, Simms has Five Star Senior Center, a multi-purpose day facility to thank to. The center provides services for senior citizens in south St. Louis and made arrangements to make Simms’ dream come true. Simms has reportedly contributed to the welfare of the old people in the center by sewing more than 400 handmade items for them over the past two years.
“She was so excited that she can ride in a police car and she said, ‘Do you think you could put those handcuffs on me?'” Michael Howard, executive director of the center, told ABC News today. “A St. Louis county car pulled up next to the police and Edie holds up her hands with the handcuffs on. She’s just a riot.”
That was not all. Simms wanted every bit of the experience of getting arrested. Michael Howard, the executive director of the services center reportedly said that she was so excited that she wanted to be handcuffed too. “A St Louis county car pulled up next to the police and Edie holds up her hands with the handcuffs on. She’s just a riot,” Howard was quoted saying. A video of her ‘arrest’ shows how adorable Simms look as she updates her bucket list.
